Deborah's approach to teaching Pilates is unique as she is an equipment Pilates teacher, qualified sports massage therapist, and muscle activation therapist with a special interest in post rehabilitation especially of hips and knees. She combines her knowledge of the body and how it works to tailor Pilates exercises to ensure she works with the client to meet their individual needs whilst keeping the client safe. Deborah's clients come from all walks of life and use their time in the studio to achieve a more toned, healthier body or to relieve stiffness and tightness from everyday life. Some come to improve their posture and balance whilst others come to the studio to rehabilitate from an injury or operation.
Deborah is a fully qualified equipment and mat work Pilates Teacher trained by Alan Herdman at his studios in Central London. The training lasts for one year and requires the student to study for 20 hours a week with Alan and his team of tutors which include a physiotherapist and senior and experienced Pilates teachers. Alan Herdman is a world renowned Pilates expert, who brought Pilates to the UK in 1971 and holds the title of 'Master Teacher', only one of a handful of teachers in the world to achieve this status. Alan’s Teacher Training is acknowledged as the best in the UK, and probably in Europe. and Graduates are highly sought after – many studios only want to work with Alan’s students . She regularly attends courses to ensure her knowledge is up to date.
Deborah teaches Pilates using studio equipment such as the Reformer, Trapeze Table, Wunda chair, Pilates Arc and other small equipment at her studio in Sonning which is conveniently located for Reading, Woodley and Henley on Thames. Deborah is a graduate of the prestigious London School of Sports Massage with a BTEC Diploma in Sports and Remedial Massage. She is a qualified NLP (Neuro Linguistic Programming) Practitioner. She is a Be Activation therapist having attended a Be Activated course given by Douglas Heel a Physiotherapist who works with the South African Rugby team, LA Galaxy, famous golfers and Sean Connery! As a former county hockey player, accomplished horsewomen and cricket player, Deborah has a strong appreciation of the physical demands for sports performance. This keen knowledge is fundamental to Deborah’s holistic approach to tailor programmes to an individual's needs. She regularly attends courses so that she can bring new ways of thinking to address the challenges that our bodies set us both intentionally and unintentionally.

I am a 50 something tennis player. I come to Deborah's classes as she helps me sort out the aches and pains that I am now experiencing as I get older. If I have played several matches during the week my hamstrings always tighten up. This is where having a studio with the equipment is an advantage as I can use the trapeze table to exercise and lengthen the hamstrings and calves quickly. I look forward to my weekly 3:1 classes and the conversation is always great too.
