What is Pilates?
Pilates is an exercise program that aims to strengthen the body in an even way, with particular emphasis on core strength to improve general fitness and wellbeing. Pilates exercises can be done on a mat or using special equipment, such as the Reformer, the Cadillac and Wunda Chair. The emphasis is on quality and not quantity. Clients come to Pilates for a variety of reasons - back problems such a 'slipped discs', recovery from surgery or injury, shoulder impignment or they just want to improve their core, posture or balance.
The Pilates equipment offers many benefits as it can be used to provide support for beginners and people with certain medical conditions, as well as resistance for people looking to challenge their body. Quicker results are acheived as you are moving against the resistance of the springs using the springs of the machines to improve your posture and balance, and make you stronger and more flexible.

"Teach the client and not the exercise"
Located in Sonning, the Pilates4me studio runs classes from Beginner to Advanced using Pilates equipment such as the reformer, trapeze table, combi chair and other small equipment. Pilates practiced on equipment provides a more comprehensive exercise program which allows clients to achieve better results, quicker.
To ensure clients benefit fully from their investment in Pilates, Deborah offers equipment classes as a 1:1 or in small classes with no more than 3 people. She also teaches matwork at Woodley Baptist Church with a maximum number of 6 people in the class as she believes this is beneficial to the client. As a qualified sports massage therapist, Deborah has a depth and breadth of anatomical and soft tissue knowledge which means programs are tailored to uniquely suit each client based on medical history, condition and/or injury. Deborah regularly attends courses and has developed an interest and expertise in rehabilitating clients following injury and surgery especially hips and knees and those clients with back problems. She also has an interest in women's health and teaches classes for women with pelvic floor disfunction. She is a keen horse rider and teaches Pilates for horse riders as an additional interest.
The Pilates4me studio is easily accessible to the local area including Sonning, Reading, Henley on Thames, Woodley, Wokingham, Twyford, Caversham, Lower Earley, Earley, Maidenhead, Shiplake, Peppard and everywhere in between!
